I know it has a few words, but it left me speechless. I've suspected that all the "celebrities" are the same these days. Apparently, more is shared than just a lack of talent.

Music Monday; Etta James

Some sad news this week, Etta James is very sick,and not expected to make it. I've enjoyed her music most of my life. A stunning vocalist, her live shows were amazing. Good blues, great singing, and taking pop songs,twisting them around, adding in a little raunch and a lot of spice, Etta was unique. When we were a young married couple,my wife would tag along to blues festivals and concerts with me,  but not really a fan of the music. She would tag along just to "share interests". She went to Blues Festivals with me, I would to  shows like Neil Diamond and the Monkees with her.  But once she saw Etta James Live, she became a blues fan. Etta opened up the world of the Blues to my wife. This is the song Etta released that stunned the world;



  Our thoughts and prayers are with Etta, and her family. Thank you for a generation of great music, soaring vocals, and turning my wife into a blues fan. I will always cherish Miss James for those things.

Meanwhile over on The Real Blog  we took a look back at Poor Richard's Almanack first published on this date in 1732. So many of Ben Franklin's witticisms have gone on to become American Proverbs, I thought it would be interesting to see how they were said almost 300 years ago. See that here; Alas, Poor Richard.

Today is Silly Sunday, the weekly meme from Rhonda over at Laugh Quotes.I thought today I would pass on a silly little song I ran across this week.





Sadly, what's silly about the song isn't so much the song itself, but the thinking in Washington that this sort of economic policy is viable.

Today, on the Real Blog, we paid tribute to John Lennon, who was murdered on this day in 1980.

Funny, in my house, it isn't time for Christmas, until I hear this song.

Another blogging buddy, Steve over at Be There 2Day has a meme going called Wordless Wednesday, but I'm having a hard time finding the rules for it. This is my first entry on this meme, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to work. I actually didn't expect to jump into this meme this week, until I understood what every one is looking for. So for lack of clear instruction; I thought I would offer up  the picture that left me most speechless this week;
